Cunard Building - Facade
Client: CBRE for Merseyside Pension Fund
Sector: Regeneration/Conservation/Commercial/Retail
Status: Complete
The Cunard Building is one is Liverpool’s most recognised waterfront landmarks nestled as the middle of the ‘3 graces’. BFAW was commissioned by the client on an on-going contract to assist with the repairs, maintenance and development of the building affording many opportunities to expand upon the knowledge of the building. The building is Grade II* listed and is also part of Liverpool’s UNESCO designated World Heritage Site.
This project was to investigate the construction techniques used to support the existing balconies as many were highlighted in the condition survey as in a bad state of disrepair. The investigative procedure was carried out with the assistance of master stonemasons and the heritage officer. This ran alongside the cleaning and restoration of the building’s facade.
